The Historical Bulova Accutron buzz:
Bulova’s famous Accutron movement using a tuning for that oscillated at 300 beats a second as opposed to a mechanical movement 2.5 – 3 times a second adding accuracy and reliability never before achieved. This was the start the electronic analogue (dial with hands) watch explosion back in the late 1960’s. After the Hamilton electric (the first watch to use a battery) which was popular but not considered a success because watchmakers didn’t know how to repair them and it almost bankrupted the company. This was a huge leap away from the red numerals of the digital watches that took two hands to tell the time. The Bulova Accutron was the second watch to use a battery (some debate as to when Lip of France got started, (however the Accutron was much more popular). To my eye, this is the most attractive gold model they made with the very cool tear drop lugs.
