The Retro period late 1940’s post world war 11 and was a bold and bossy rendition of the earlier Art Deco period style – the world wanted to remember the good old days and celebrate the end of the war. Patriotic gemstone color combinations were seen such as ruby diamond and sapphire (red white and blue). Rose yellow, white gold and palladium were used with sparse applications of platinum as it was considered a strategic material (used in airplane spark plugs)
